During the WEfoundation’s mission to Kajiado, Bukola Jaji played a vital role in capturing the work performed by Dr. Dan Juma and his team. This mission brought together doctors, nurses, medical practitioners, and professionals from various fields to provide free preventative medical treatment and support to the local community clinic. The treatments included semi non-invasive dental procedures, assistance in ICU and maternity wards, and collaboration with the Gender-Based Violence Clinic (GBVC).
Bridging Knowledge Gaps
In addition to her artistic contributions, Bukola leveraged her expertise in biomedical engineering to provide ongoing professional training to biomedical device technicians. She oversaw maintenance procedures and offered guidance on handling medical devices, addressing a critical need for continued education in the field. As one attending technician noted, “There isn’t much continued teaching or training done,” leading to a “learn as you go” environment that poses challenges when devices need replacement or repair.
